Personal Project
My Roles: Creative Director, Illustrator, and Photographer
"Operation" is a piece in my series called The Black Experience Told through Black Horror in which I created 7 self-portraits using the mediums of photography, graphic design, and illustration.
Inspired by the household Operation game, the character on the board is a cartoon version of myself with various ailments, related to the black experience like health and wealth disparities.
This piece was created using photography, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Lightroom.
Moodboard
My moodboard primarily contained images of different Operation Game packaging and versions of the game itself. For example, there is a version from my childhood that everyone is quite familiar with. I compiled these photos to compare the aesthetics of the boards from the present and the past.

ILLUSTRATION
I took a photo of my personal Operation board on top of well-manicured grass at my high school. I wanted the board to look real and the best way I knew how to do that was practically, through photography.
Then, I drew in Illustrator over the existing image of the board.
The last steps were to recreate shadows on top of my Illustrator drawing in Photoshop and edit the overall color to be more vibrant and "punchy" using Lightroom.
